The Singlish Publication Society makes books of Jewish prayer without approval of any authority, rabbinic or otherwise. Several congregations use our standard or customized prayer books, and they’re becoming available so you too can get your own copy.

Our books are designed to remove the barriers that prevent many people from joining in at services. The Hebrew is transliterated, the translation is in modern English, we don’t assume that God is exclusively male or that Temple sacrifices are the only real Jewish experience! What’s more, we explain what to do, when in the service to stand and sit, so you can know what to expect.

We have books for synagogue services, home rituals, and more. Our books are gradually moving to Amazon, where you will be able to order them. We use Amazon because, unlike other print-on-demand services, Amazon can print books in the size and shape we need and fill your orders.

Some will say we’ve gone too far and others will say we didn’t go far enough. Everyone can be a critic! And if you find an error, please let us know!

Our blog is for irreverent musings by our chief poet, whose thoughts are his own. You can reach us: singlishps@gmail.com.

You can view copies of our books and see for yourself. Gradually these books are becoming available on Amazon.

Amazon KDP

For years, our favorite short-run printer would print our books and send them to us in boxes. We’d take orders and payment through our website and mail the books. For custom orders of (say) 50 copies or more, we’d ship the books directly from printer to buyer. When we moved to a condo we no longer had space for boxes of unsold books. But in late 2025 someone asked for copies of an out-of-print title. Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing was able to print and deliver books in the size we use, so (with some learning curve) we made books available. Now we can provide books without keeping books in stock.

When you look at our books on Amazon some of them seem to show the back cover instead of the front cover. This is because we told Amazon the books are in English (one out of three columns on a page is Hebrew). When we say a book is Hebrew, Amazon’s system treats it differently; either way, the printed book you buy is correct. Eventually we’ll align all the books on Amazon’s system.
